St. Paul’s College: Living Out Christian Stewardship Toward a Sustainable Future

St. Paul’s College is delighted to share our recent achievements and upcoming sustainability initiatives. June is World Environment Month, a timely opportunity for us to reflect on and act upon our responsibility to care for the Earth. As Christians, we believe we are called to be faithful stewards of God’s creation, safeguarding it for future generations.

In May, we were honored to receive the Ming Pao Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Award and to participate in the Campus Sustainable Future Recognition Ceremony. These recognitions are not only affirmations of our efforts but also the result of the collective dedication of the entire St. Paul’s College community—including students, parents, teachers, alumni, and community partners. We sincerely thank everyone for their support and participation!

We also received the Active Participation Award for Hong Kong Green Day 2025 through our School Recycling Initiative and earned certification for the United Nations World Environment Day 2025 – Hong Kong Action cum Net-Zero School Project. The final carbon report and audit statement for 2023 have been completed. Special thanks go to our Education in Sustainability Teacher Team and Student Sustainability Ambassadors for their training and data collection efforts. These findings will serve as valuable references for shaping our ESG school policies in the coming year.

In April, our Student Sustainability Ambassadors took part in the Low-carbon Eating Cooking Competition hosted by St. Stephen’s Girls’ College. Themed “Panda,” the event was both creative and inspiring, allowing students to experience the meaning of low-carbon living through hands-on participation. We look forward to joining the inter-school competition again next year and collaborating with more schools to promote green living.

Meanwhile, our smart recycling facilities are progressing steadily. These bins will provide interactive educational content for both students and teachers, encouraging eco-friendly habits through data-driven insights and evidence-based learning. Trial activities will begin in July, with full implementation planned for the new academic year, further embedding a culture of sustainability on campus.

Let us continue to live out our Christian calling to be stewards of creation—actively participating, staying engaged, and doing our part to build a greener and more hopeful future!
